Volunteers are the heart of Adkins Arboretum. They are passionate, dedicated, enthusiastic, curious, and kind.

From beautifying the cultivated gardens and clearing the trails to greeting guests and leading tours, volunteers help fulfill our mission of providing exceptional experiences in nature to promote environmental stewardship.

There are a variety of seasonal and year-round volunteer opportunities at the Arboretum. They include:

• visitor services
• trail and garden stewards
• native plant sale assistance
• outreach
• phenology
• bird monitoring
• program and special event assistance
• art reception support

Prospective volunteers are required to fill out a volunteer application and attend an in-person orientation before beginning their service.

Orientations are scheduled periodically throughout the year. Applicants will be notified of the date of the next orientation after submitting a volunteer application.
