Annual Juried Art Show
The theme of Adkins Arboretum’s Annual Juried Art Show is Discovering the Native Landscapes of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, which celebrates the Arboretum’s mission of conservation.
The Leon Andrus Awards, named in honor of the Arboretum’s first benefactor, are given for first and second places.
The 2026 first place Leon Andrus Award winner was Karen Klinedinst for Iris Verna.

Meet the Juror
We are pleased to welcome Brian Lang as juror for the 2027 Juried Art Show. He is the Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Academy Art Museum in Easton, MD.
Lang holds an M.A. in Art History and Museum Studies from the University of Denver and a B.A. in Anthropology and Spanish from Beloit College. His curatorial collaborations have included projects with the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the National Gallery of Art. Lang is also the author of numerous books, exhibition catalogues, and articles on topics ranging from American furniture design to photography of the Black South to Chinese porcelain.

Submissions Open: Thursday, December 10, 2026– Thursday, January 14, 2027
Accepted Artists Notified: Tuesday, February 19, 2027
Original Work Delivered: Wednesday, March 3–Saturday, March 6, 2027
Exhibit: Tuesday, March 9–Friday, April 30, 2027
Reception: Saturday, March 27, 2027
The show is open to original two- and three-dimensional fine arts in all mediums, including outdoor sculpture and installations. Works should reflect or interpret broadly the show’s theme. There is no entry fee, but artists are responsible for shipping expenses, if applicable.
Digital images of up to three pieces of art by each artist should be emailed to art@adkinsarboretum.org with the subject: 2027 Juried Art Show Submission. Submissions must include title, medium, dimensions (maximum of 6′ in any direction, excluding outdoor sculpture) and artist’s name, address and phone number.
