Adkins Arboretum strives to make nature accessible to all. These efforts are ongoing.

The parking lot is one level, step-free, and includes marked disability parking spots located near the Entrance Arch. Visitors may also be dropped off at the roundabout, near the Entrance Arch, for closer access to the Visitor’s Center.

An ADA-certified accessible portable restroom is located in the parking lot near the accessible parking spots. ADA-certified restrooms are available inside the Visitor’s Center during open hours, but the portable restroom is available from sunrise til sunset.

The Arboretum’s Visitor’s Center is on one level and is accessible from the parking lot via a paved walkway and the decked Wetland Welcome Bridge. All of the public rooms, offices, and restrooms inside the Visitor’s Center are accessible.

The 5 miles of trails vary in grade, surface material, root exposure, and shade. Visitor’s Center Staff can advise on the best trails for your visit.

The Wetland Boardwalk and South Meadow Overlook are both accessible via ramps and are ideal spots for birdwatching.
