Mona Birmingham
Hi my name is Mona Birmingham originally from the Hudson Valley New York and grew up on Long Island. Been living on the Eastern Shore with my husband for about three years now and loving it. I love to work in oil, pastel or any other medium and always striving to capture the light and texture in away that others imagine deeply. I am a painter of people, places and things. While I enjoy all of these portraits above all is my favorite. I find subjects which interest me in many diverse and unexpected places. Moments of beautiful exciting light and color and variations of color. Since I have been living here I have rediscovered my passion for oils and pastel. I have always made time to paint through school, work and family. I love drawing life studies from a model and drawing quickly. “Working from life “ is the only way to paint but the studio offers the other alternative. I am classically trained from some prestigious schools and master painters who taught me so much I am so appreciative. My education include BFA in Textile Design, BFA in Interior Design and AAS in Fine Arts. All throughout my twenty plus year career as a Textile Colorist, Embroidery Designer and Interior Designer painting has always been my calling. It is addictive and challenging while doing plein air landscape or a studio painting I love to capture that feeling of the experience.
