Art at Adkins

Plein Air Adkins

Date: November 1, 2025, 9 am-2 pm

En plein air is French for "in the open air." Plein air painting is painting outdoors, allowing the artist to capture the changing light and weather.

Plein Air Adkins is a timed plein air event where artists paint in the morning and exhibit their work in the afternoon. Prizes will be awarded by a guest judge, and paintings will be available for purchase.

The event is open to any artist who wishes to participate. The registration fee for artists is $15 until October 1, then it will be $20. Artists may register in advance, or on the day of the event.

The public is invited to explore the Arboretum's woodland, meadows, and wetland while watching the artists paint, then enjoy the exhibit, judging, and sale. This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase art on the same day it was created! This event is free for observers and Arboretum visitors. Food will be available for purchase.
