common milkweed
Common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca) blooms along the edge of the South Meadow. The complex flowers' pollen is held tightly in a waxy pollinium that sticks to a pollinator's leg. It takes a strong pollinator to extract and carry the pollinia to the next flower.
