Mary McCoy has created art at Adkins Arboretum and served on its art committee for over twenty years. She is an environmental artist and writer whose interdisciplinary work grows from her curiosity about the natural world and humans’ relationship with it. With her collaborative partner, Howard McCoy, she has been creating outdoor sculpture and poetry at the Arboretum since 1999. Her solo and collaborative work has been exhibited in the U.S., Ireland, Wales and New Zealand and her poetry has been published in several journals and three books. She is a former art critic for The Washington Post and several art publications and holds a B.S. in Studio Art from Skidmore College.
