Laura Vlahovich, Visitor Services/Volunteer Coordinator/Social Media Manager
Born and raised in Washington State, Laura considers the Pacific Northwest home but loves Maryland for its sun, wildlife, and long growing season.
Laura is drawn to water, having grown up on and around boats. She spent several summers onboard her family's charter boat in Alaska's Inside Passage. She was a competitive swimmer in school and loves snorkeling in Caribbean water.
Laura attended college in Wellington, New Zealand, where she studied graphic design. Since graduating, she has worked as a graphic designer, photographer, and a web and social media manager for small businesses and non-profit organizations. She especially enjoys creating nature-themed content for social media because it marries her love of photography and the natural world.
While her first creative passion is photography, Laura also enjoys beadweaving and has recently taken up painting.
When she is not greeting guests at the Arboretum's Visitor's Center, Laura is tending her raised bed vegetable garden, spending time with her partner and non-human children, and being a fun auntie.
