Plant Sales

Adkins Arboretum holds two major plant sales each year, the first or second Saturday in May and the second Saturday in September. The sales feature a wide range of trees, shrubs, grasses, and perennial herbaceous plants, mostly native to the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Used gardening and nature-themed books and magazines are also for sale.

Members can place pre-sale orders for plants and are invited to a "Members Only" preview day before the sale day. There is also a preview walk for the public the week before the spring and fall plant sales. Members receive a 10% discount on all plants.

A selection of plants is for sale under the Visitor's Center pergola from May through

November. By arrangement the Arboretum can assist with special orders for restoration projects or community plantings.

The Arboretum's Native Plant Catalog, for sale in the Arboretum bookstore, has horticultural, ecological, and folkloric information about many of the plants for sale.

Sale days can be crowded, so please leave dogs at home.
