What potential does a piece of land hold for beauty, ecological function, and value to the local waterways, wildlife, and the people who own, manage and enjoy it?
Through the Land Stewardship Institute, the Arboretum collaborates with government agencies and nonprofit organizations, as well as individuals, to reach beyond its borders to impact the environmental health of the region.
*plant {local} is an initiative of Adkins Arboretum in collaboration with Chesapeake Wildlife Heritage, a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring wildlife habitat, to provide consultaton, design, installation and maintenance services for restoration and land enhancement projects.
The initiative seeks to create dramatic and lasting change in how land is utilized, managed, enjoyed and preserved by inspiring a transformation in land use policy, land management practices, and market forces so that they ensure sustainability for all natural resources and living things.
